I’m finally back at Uni – hurrah!! Moved into my new house with my fab housemates- who all study chemistry too and are basically the entire ChemSoc committee.
Everything has been great so far, although it’s a bit weird getting used to all the little sounds our old Victorian house makes. It’s strangely liberating living in your own house, it’s like being grown up yet, there’s little/ no responsibility. Currently, as term hasn’t officially started yet, we literally can sleep all day (and party all night) before we have to actually come to terms with the fact that now we are all second years, and our grades actually count towards something besides keeping on our parents’ good side.
Generally though, settling in has been a breeze. Most of my house is here now, so there is always someone whose up for something/not at work etc so days are never dull at all! Plus it’s so nice to have a double bed which is definitely a major perk of living in your own house. Gone are the days of turning over in the night to discover you are either 5 cm from a bedside cabinet or a ridiculously thin wall. Living in a house is great- just be careful not to choose housemates too early, as you don’t want to be in a situation where you are having to support extra rent as someone drops out or end up hating someone who you will not be able to get away from for an entire year.
Until next time,
