Ill in exam time

Trust me to get ill around exam time. Literally the WORST time to get ill but I’ve managed it. Unfortunately, I fell ill mid exam during my Organometallics module and threw up which isn’t the outcome I was hoping for. I was majorly panicking as I literally didn’t know what to do- and didn’t want to miss anymore exams!
But fear not, my misfortune might clarify what you need to do if you are in the same situation.

So, after leaving the exam feeling slightly worse for wear I headed home and rang the Doctors. Get an appointment as soon as possible to help support your application. When at the doctors and after confirming that you are indeed ill, it is important to get a medical certificate exempting you from this exam plus further examinations (depending on the severity of the illness) this will majorly help support your mitigation. Any evidence of medication is also going to help, so I uploaded a pic of my medicine to prove that that’s what was prescribed. Then REST.

If you are deemed ill, but turn up to your exam with the pre-existing illness you are FIT TO SIT so if you fall ill due to the same illness you will not get the mitigation. It is important not to rush yourself back as it can negatively impact your marks and revision- and you don’t want to be capped.

Hope I’ve explained the process, and hope no one has to experience it- it’s a complete pain as now I have to sit it in September- but at least I’ll feel better!
